History, modern architecture and art
The museum
Welcome to the Frauenau Glass Museum: Discover the fascinating cultural history of glass, from the earliest traces in Mesopotamia to contemporary glass art. Spanning 1,300 m² of exhibition space, the permanent exhibition takes visitors on a journey through craftsmanship, art and design centred on a material that has captivated people for millennia.
The museum visit is complemented by a changing programme of special exhibitions featuring international artists, as well as a wide range of educational activities for children and families. Here, visitors can experience glass in a playful way – accompanied by our museum mascot, Durandl, who also guides children through the children’s area online.
Our interactive digital museum complements the exhibition with digital content for viewing at home or on the move.
Discover ‘Knowledge Spots’ with fascinating background information, as well as ‘Discovery Spots’ featuring puzzles and interactive activities for families and children.
