ARS VITRARIA HELVETICA – Contemporary Swiss glass

Switzerland and glass – these two things are not usually associated with each other. Although Switzerland does not have as long a tradition of glassmaking as its neighbouring countries, it now has a vibrant contemporary glass art scene. This development was initiated by Roberto Niederer (1928–1988), who was an important figure in the European studio glass world in the 1970s and also a successful glassworks operator.

With the ARS VITRARIA HELVETICA exhibition, the Frauenau Glass Museum provides an impressive insight into Swiss glass art. On display is an enormous range of artistic ideas and sophisticated techniques. Switzerland can also do glass – and in an impressive way.
