Mexican maximalism

The brothers Einar and Jamex de la Torre live and work in San Diego/California and Ensenada/Mexico and celebrate their Mexican heritage in their art. Their works are created in close collaboration. They know each other well and understand each other blindly. This is how they create objects of extraordinary expressiveness, which in their opulence seem like a modern interpretation of baroque aesthetics.

The de la Torres find inspiration in Mexican folk art and pop culture. The influences from Aztec high culture and the Christian religion are unmistakable. The artworks deal with serious themes, but still come across as playful. The closer you look at the objects, the more you discover and the clearer the message becomes.
