The Frauenau crystallised glass factory I. Gistl
"Gistl glass is fine glass" - this was the advertising slogan of Krystallglasfabrik Frauenau I. Gistl in the 1950s, whose products are presented in the cabinet. The glass manufacturer Isidor Gistl had leased a glassworks in 1906 and founded the company. He was so successful that he decided to set up his own glass factory. And so in 1925, 100 years ago, he was able to open the new Krystall glass factory, which was one of the most modern in Europe at the time. Customers all over the world drank from Gistl glasses and were impressed by the other glass products. With its appealing shapes and delicate decorations, Gistl glass is timelessly beautiful and continues to delight consumers to this day. "Gistl glass is fine glass" - a truly apt advertising slogan.
The exhibition provides an insight into Gistl production from its beginnings to the 1960s, when the last handmade glasses left the glass factory. In 1971, with the takeover by Kristallglasfabrik Spiegelau, machine production was introduced. The exhibition is also enriched by photos, historical advertising material and even a model of the glass factory made of glass.
